GENERAL PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to serve our communities as an emergency responder in suppression, EMS, and related roles. Further, Firefighter/AEMTs fill all needed roles within the District as defined by this job description and as assigned by District supervisors.

Works under the direct supervision of an assigned company officer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Under the direction of the Captain, the Firefighter/AEMT shall:

1.              Be familiar with the use and operation of all fire and rescue equipment used by the District.

2.              Respond to emergency calls and participate in the handling of such emergencies in accordance with standard practices and procedures.

3.              Participate in the control and extinguishment of fires and the rescue of human life.

4.              Be prompt in the performance of orders of superior officers and strictly observe the chain of command.

5.              Achieve and maintain a level of knowledge of firefighting and rescue techniques.

6.              Maintain all conditions of employment as required for the position and outlined in Rules and Regulations Article I, Section 101.

7.              Maintain knowledge of, and operate within, the District Rules and Regulations, Policies and Procedures, Standard Operating Guidelines, and the chain of command.

8.              Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with fellow firefighters, fire officers, and the general public.

9.              Attend and participate in District training and public safety programs.

10.           Maintain a level of physical fitness necessary to perform firefighter and rescue tasks commensurate with Rules and Regulations and Standard Operating Guidelines.

11.           Other related duties as may be assigned.

• Valid Driver's License
• Authorized to work in the US
• Utah Firefighter I & II , IFSAC, or Pro Board certification
• Utah EMT-B certification or NREMT equivalent
